Ex-Meth Addict 's Life Saved by Narconon Drug Rehab in Georgia
A court decision that changed Jason's life: the ex-addict was sent to a Narconon drug treatment center and is now drug-free.
ROSWELL, GA, May 13, 2010 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- If anyone had told Nancy Lawing five years ago that her son Jason would be alive today, she would not have believed them. "His life was not worth a nickel," stated Nancy in a recent interview. "And that is the most helpless outlook a parent can have for their child."
Today Jason is very much alive and celebrates his fourth anniversary clean on May 28th, thanks, his mother says, to the Narconon facility in Georgia.
Four years ago Jason was facing possible prison time for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and obtaining property by false pretense - crimes which were addiction driven. Jason's fourteen year drug abuse started with pot and pills and had escalated to cocaine and methamphetamine. It had gotten to the point where Jason was making and selling 1-2 kilos of methamphetamine a week before he found his way to treatment.
Fortunately for Jason, he had a judge who was willing to give him a chance and a mother who was relentless in her efforts to find an effective drug treatment. In May of 2006 Jason arrived to Narconon of Georgia rehab center and his life has not been the same since.
During his four-month stay at Narconon, Jason went through the extensive Narconon program which includes a sauna and exercise program. Jason calls this the "meat and potatoes of the program." The sauna was followed by the life skills section where a life plan was developed which centered around the new skills that Jason learned. His reintegration into society was a success. His mother described his success: "Since Jason graduated from Narconon and got his head clear there is nothing he can't accomplish. Jason was given the survival tools to bury his addiction. We are so proud of him and his feats since he has changed his lifestyle."
Not only was Jason's mother proud, but his success has captured the attention of others. In 2008 his story of success was featured in his hometown newspaper, the Asheville Citizen Times. Two years after graduating the Narconon drug rehab program Jason had been awarded full custody of his son and was working full-time at Allied Wheel and Alignment in West Asheville.
The next year Jason again made news when took up road racing. In less than a year in this new activity, Jason came in 18th in the nation at the Suzuki Cup Nationals.
The news this year is that Jason is engaged! Jason, his son and fiancee spend time together at the lake and Jason's new passion is boats. He is still working in the family business, but despite his busy schedule Jason still has found time to go to the court house to deliver Narconon materials to the mothers of addicts. Jason and his mother still publish their phone numbers wherever they can in the hopes that they can help direct other families, suffering from addiction, to the Narconon program. His mother stated, "Jason or I are willing to talk to anyone. We know that there are mothers out there at their wits end, just like I was. I share our story with everyone I can because there are not too many success stories when it comes to crack and methamphetamine." (Jason and his mother's number can be obtained by calling Narconon of Georgia at 877-413-307.)
