The Nourishing Kitchen is representing New York City in the Post Food's Good Health Grant
The Nourishing Kitchen of NYC is the sole representative of the New York City metro area in the Post Food's Good Health Grant. This is a competition using on-line votes to determine the winner of $25K.
NEW YORK, NY, June 04, 2010 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- The Nourishing Kitchen of New York City is so very lucky to have great fans - we need your help more than ever. The Nourishing Kitchen of New York City has made it through the selection process and has been selected for the final round of voting for the Post Natural Good Health Grant. And now we need your help to make it through the final step to win.
Last month, The Nourishing Kitchen of New York City entered the Post Natural Good Health Grant, which gives way $25,000 to one not-for-profit organization. Our project is about getting young children healthy and empowering them at the same time through culinary instruction. Students visit The Nourishing Kitchen to learn the ins and outs of the hospitality industry, from prep to plate. This program was created to connect underserved and undernourished youth to the culinary arts while educating students and families on issues of nutrition and wellness. Additionally, the students receive materials to prepare the recipes at home with their families, plus a local gym membership to engage in physical activity. Participants also have the opportunity to work in our community garden plots, learning about how food is produced before reaching the table. Through this program students learn how to protect themselves and their families from the threat of diabetes and obesity raging in their neighborhoods, while acquiring concrete skills in the hospitality industry.
The Nourishing Kitchen is working hard to get the $25,000. That would go a long way to making a difference for children in New York City. The awards are made based strictly on the number of votes each organization receives. "This project is something that the community has loved and we would love to expand," says Gina Puzzanghera, founder of The Nourishing Kitchen, "but cannot do this without the grant funding."
