Band Together NC Seeking Nominations for 2011 Charity Partner by Aug. 31

Charity Partner to Receive 100 Percent of Net Proceeds from 2011 Concert Event

RALEIGH, NC, July 21, 2010 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- Band Together NC, a Triangle-based organization whose mission is to raise funds and awareness for select charities through events that showcase and support musical talent, is looking for its charity recipient for the 2011 Band Together concert. With the success of their 2010 concert, Band Together has donated more $1,000,000 to local nonprofits since its inception in 2001.

Charities interested in applying to be the 2011 charity recipient may attend a Q&A session at The Lincoln Theatre at 6 p.m. on Aug. 3 by e-mailing info@bandtogethernc.org for an invitation. To be eligible, prospective charities must be recognized as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency. Band Together takes into consideration the percentage of funds that go directly to the charity's programs, the nonprofit's ability to engage its board of directors and supporters as part of event leadership, and the ability to make a meaningful difference to the charity's recipients. Priority is given to nonprofits that serve the Triangle area and provide services without regard to a specific religious or political affiliation.

This year's Band Together event, held outside Lincoln Theatre on May 22, 2010, was headlined by Michael Franti & Spearhead and featured performances by The Old Ceremony, Anoop Desai, One EskimO and Holy Ghost Tent Revival. The $358,000 raised for StepUP Ministry included funds from sponsorships, ticket sales, individual donations, guitar raffle and silent auction. Band Together ensures that 100 percent of net proceeds raised goes to the charity recipient.

Band Together is run entirely by volunteer efforts. Past charity partners have included StepUP Ministry, The Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood, SAFEchild, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle, Wake County Boys and Girls Clubs, The Food Bank of Eastern North Carolina for local and Gulf Coast Katrina Relief, Stop Hunger Now for Meals for Haiti, Stop Hunger Now for Tsunami Relief, the Music Maker Relief Foundation, the N.C. Chapter of Operation Smile, Special Olympics North Carolina, and the 9/11 Survivor's Fund.
