NAAFA Health At Every Size (HAES) Summit Schedule Announced
Keynote speaker, session moderators and subject matter being covered at NAAFA's first HAES Summit just announced.
OAKLAND, CA, July 03, 2010 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- NAAFA is pleased to announce the schedule for their first Health At Every Size (HAES) Summit to be held on Monday, August 9, 2010 at the San Francisco Airport Westin Hotel in Millbrae, California
The Summit will feature:
• Keynote Speaker Dr. Glenn Gaesser, university professor, author, exercise and wellness expert
• Four sessions moderated by Mental Health Professionals and HAES experts Dr. Deb Burgard, PhD, Dr. Barbara Bruno, PhD, ACSW, Dr. Esther Rothblum, PhD and Elizabeth Scott, LSCW.
• International researchers' view on the 'Obesity Epidemic' and HAES
• Sessions will cover:
o A critical review of obesity studies and the media
o The development of the next generation of HAES leaders, featuring the 2010 NAAFA HAES Scholar
o How mental health, public health and fitness professionals navigate the 'land mines' and incorporate HAES in their work
• How to go beyond the HAES definition into action from the perspective of a new academic discipline of Fat Studies
• The summit will wrap up with a unique combination of a Poster Session & Marketplace of Ideas Reception, where attendees can network, exchange ideas, share materials and resources.
