Health Council CEO Earns A Seat In The Ranks Of Stanford Who's Who

Stanford Who's Who welcomes John G. Abbott to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of his sensational work in the Healthcare Industry.

Abbott to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of his sensational work in the Healthcare Industry. As CEO of the Health Council of Canada he has consistently displayed the dedication and diligence necessary to be considered among the best.

The Health Council of Canada is instrumental in healthcare reforms and renewal for communities throughout Canada. The organization fosters accountability and transparency by assessing progress in improving the quality, effectiveness and sustainability of the health care system. Mr. Abbott supports the Council in healthcare issues and reforms and is responsible for collections and analysis. Prior to joining the Health Council, John was a management consultant specializing in public policy analysis and development. John also served as Deputy Minister of Newfoundland and Labrador's Department of Health and Community Services where he oversaw the reorganization of the province's system of regional health authorities and the expansion of the provincial drug program to meet the needs of low-income families and those with high drug costs.

John also held the positions of Assistant Secretary to the Treasury Board, Associate Deputy Minister of Health and Community Services, Chairman and CEO of the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation, Deputy Minister of Works, Services and Transportation and Deputy Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs.

During his educational career, John earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and Economics from Memorial University and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Carleton University. John served with distinction as a senior government executive in Newfoundland and Labrador for which he was recognized with the Lieutenant Governor's Award for Excellence in Public Administration by The Institute of Public Administration of Canada. He is a member of the Canadian College of Health Services.
