Food Bank for Westchester Names Toby Pidgeon New Director of Operations

The Food Bank for Westchester, which has been fighting hunger in Westchester for 23 years, is pleased to announce that Yorktown Heights resident Toby Pidgeon has been appointed Director of Operations.

MT. KISCO, NY, March 31, 2011 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- The Food Bank for Westchester, which has been fighting hunger in Westchester for 23 years, is pleased to announce that Yorktown Heights resident Toby Pidgeon has been appointed Director of Operations. In this role, Pidgeon will oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, including all food distribution and direct-service programs.

Pidgeon joined the Food Bank for Westchester (FBW) in 2005 as manager of Nutrition Resources. He quickly assumed expanded responsibilities in food acquisition and logistics management, and he developed and implemented fresh-food distribution programs to better meet FBW's commitment to provide nutritious food to hungry Westchester residents. Under his direction, FBW adopted the "Nutrition, Not Just Calories" slogan.

"Toby's extensive knowledge of the Food Bank for Westchester, his background in business and education, plus his proven track record at successful program development and implementation makes him ideal for overseeing all Food Bank operations," said Food Bank for Westchester Executive Director Christina Rohatynskyj.

Prior to joining FBW, Pidgeon was project manager for Glen Manor Designs, a home design and remodeling company based in Manhattan. He has also held positions as a youth counselor at the Charleston School in Troy, New York and as a health and reading teacher in New York City schools.

Pidgeon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Public Health from College of Mount St. Vincent, Riverdale, New York. He serves on the Nutrition Science Committee of Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Westchester; is a member of Peekskill Agencies Together, which provides community service to better the City of Peekskill; and has recently been selected to serve on the Food Safety Task Force of Feeding America, the national food bank network, based in Chicago. He and his wife, Marietta, live in Yorktown Heights with their toddler daughter, Sophia.

The Food Bank for Westchester is located at 358 Saw Mill River Road, Millwood, NY 10546.
