Veteran Awareness Coalition Focused on Post-Conflict Vets
Launch Event at Murphy's Taproom Saturday, May 21 from 2-8pm for veterans, family members, friends and those in the community interested in supporting soldiers that have served.
MANCHESTER, NH, April 16, 2011 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- Manchester based, Veteran Awareness Coalition is hosting a Launch Event at Murphy's Taproom Saturday, May 21 from 2-8pm for veterans, family members, friends and those in the community interested in supporting soldiers that have served. This event will raise awareness and temporary assistance for local veterans struggling with disability, homelessness, unemployment and "invisible wounds," such as depression, post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries. "73% of veterans in NH are wartime veterans," said Veteran Awareness Coalition Co-Founder and President, Paul Roy, "which leads to a plethora of issues that slow their assimilation into 'normal' life."
Murphy's Taproom on Elm Street is donating appetizers, A Simple Complex will be performing, guest speakers include military, political and veteran officials and at 6pm there will be a raffle of $1000 worth of prizes given for the cause. "We realize the importance of the work V.A.C. is looking to provide local vets and this is our way to help them in that work," said Murphy's Owner, Keith Murphy. Roy puts it simply, "We stood strong while we served and we can still hold together now that we are home," hence the V.A.C. tagline You Are Not Alone. Founded March 4TH of 2011, Veteran Awareness Coalition (V.A.C.) has just begun its mission of providing veterans and their families with every resource possible to deal with post-conflict issues. V.A.C. has crafted a business plan that speaks to the full-range of services returning soldiers need to succeed with an all veteran or veteran-related Board of Directors.
Working closely with the Department of Veterans Affairs, V.A.C. will facilitate the successful transition to our returning soldiers into a new constructive environment. Programs and services offered by the V.A.C. include veteran specific issues such as guidance and referrals for disability claims, medical treatment, mental health and substance abuse. In addition, educational and employment guidance are provided by V.A.C. to fight depression, disability claims, family transition, homelessness, unemployment and many other veteran specific concerns. V.A.C.'s future plans include a full-range of veteran support programs and services that will streamline the transition from combat hero to commander of their future.
