Brooklyn Cupcakes Walk Team Unites Friends & Family to Support Children and Families with Special Needs at St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children

BAYSIDE, NY, May 12, 2011 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- Cynthia Clifford became a Bilingual Early Childhood Special Instructor at St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children to provide parents with the necessary tools to help improve the lives of their children with special needs.

"There are many families that are not aware of the services available to them and their special needs children. It's every parent's worst nightmare to find out that your child has been born with a disability," remarked Cynthia. Feelings of fear, anxiety, depression, isolation and helplessness often surround new parents who don't know where to go or who to turn to
Cynthia's compassion and determination to help children and families with special needs led her to support St. Mary's 7th Annual Walk for St. Mary's Kids & Family Fun Day on Sunday, May 22nd at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY.

Cynthia has formed a Walk team, "The Brooklyn Cupcakes," which represents a small business she is involved with, and is actively recruiting friends and family to join her in her efforts to raise funds and awareness to support vital programs and services for St. Mary's kids.

"Many of St. Mary's kids reside at the hospital because they are unable to sit, walk, eat and even breathe independently. Many of their families are unable to care for them at home," said Cynthia. I know first hand how important it is for these children to get appropriate services and support.

The annual Walk for St. Mary's kids gather staff, patients, friends and family to help raise funds & awareness to support St. Mary's groundbreaking programs and services that provide care to over 4,000 children and their families battling complex medical and life-limiting conditions due to serious illness, injury or complications of premature birth.

Walkers will gather at Belmont Park on Sunday, May 22nd to walk for St. Mary's Kids. The day will include the New York AutoFest car show featuring customs, classic, muscles and rarely seen vehicles. Meet & greet Team Jilli Dog, the World's only poker-playing dog. Enjoy all the free family fun day activities including games, face painting, arts & crafts and live entertainment. Lots of surprises for the entire family including Pirate Day hosted by Belmont Park featuring pirate-themed inflatables, henna tattoo artists, pony rides, a petting zoo and more!
