Startup Weekend To Take Place In Tampa To Inspire Entrepreneurs
Tampa will be hosting its first ever Startup Weekend starting July 8 and ending on July 10, 2011 at Microsoft Corporation building (5426 Bay Center Dr # 700 Tampa, FL 33609-3477).
VALRICO, FL, May 21, 2011 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- Organizers and volunteers of Tampa's Startup Weekend have been working behind the scenes to ensure that this event provides not only inspiration, but the resources required for launching a company.
Bring a new business concept or simply a skill such as marketing, web design and development, or project management. Concept pitching and team building will take place on day one. Teams will be formed around concepts and on various skills that are brought to the table. Team will then let their creative juices flow and begin building their startup.
There will be knowledgeable and successful entrepreneurs in attendance to inspire, share and help the teams throughout the weekend. The final day teams will have the opportunity to pitch their business to a panel of judges where real prizes and services can be won. The panel of judges will feature successful individuals including Chis Abbot, a serial entrepreneur, electrical engineer and prior Captain in the Army stuff has built from the ground up and sold three successful ventures ranging from software to a brick and mortar property management company since 2000. Chris founded BeBaLa Charms last year and has successfully placed his product in zoos, parks and gift stores all across the country. Chris will also be keeping his eyes open for startups from Startup Weekend Tampa that he could fund through the Abbeton Accelerator Fund that will officially launch this summer with a small group of investors and plans to invest $200,000 in up to 10 lean start-ups. "My fund is not just about putting money into an idea, it's about finding a good team, a solid idea and then jumping into the trenches and launching the concept in 3 months or less with myself as a member of the team. The opportunity to be a mentor and judge at Startup Weekend is exciting, I am looking forward to working with local talent. This is a great event and every entrepreneur should attend!" says Chris Abbot.
