Family-to-Family Announces Family Volunteer Events for September 11th

National Day of Service Efforts to Help U.S. Families

THORNWOOD, NY, August 04, 2011 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- EVENTS: Help the Homeless Living in Your Area (on Sunday, 9/11)

Gather your friends, family, co-workers, etc. and ask them to each bring a soft suitcase, duffel bag or large backpack. Also, ask your participants to bring small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, soap, washcloths, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, body lotions, shaving cream and any other personal care items you might think of to your event.

Birthdays in a Box

For families living in poverty in a homeless shelter, having a party to celebrate a child's birthday is next to impossible. But, you can change that! Host a "Birthdays in a Box" event at your home or workplace this year on Sunday, September 11th.

Invite friends, neighbors, colleagues to your event at your home or workplace asking them to each bring a shoebox, cake mix, frosting, a small gift for a child, and an option goody bag.

*Please contact Pam Koner, pkoner@family-to-family.org before your event so that we can link your family to another family in need.

WHO: Family-to-Family is a hunger relief organization that matches each of its donors
with a specific family living in profound poverty. This direct connection between
donor and recipient offers both an experience of giving that becomes more hands-
on and personal. Each program donor sponsors "their" family with a monthly
donation that is used by Family-to-Family to purchase groceries that cover the last
week of each month when food stamps often run out. Since its founding in 2002,
Family-to-Family has provided over 1.3 million meals to impoverished families in
twenty-one U.S. communities.
