Tampa Nonprofit Returns to Sulphur Springs to Wash Clothes of Those in Need

Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. volunteers return to assist Sulphur Springs residents through its' Laundry Love Project

LUTZ, FL, October 15, 2011 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- On Saturday, Oct. 15, Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. will travel back to Sulphur Springs for a Laundry Love Project. Volunteers will spend time helping Sulphur Springs residents through paying for their laundry to be washed and dried. The project will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Big Wash Coin Laundry. The Laundromat is located at 908 E. Waters Ave. Tampa, FL 33604.

The Laundry Love Project provides an opportunity for volunteers from throughout the community to assist those in need by helping them afford a simple, yet often unnoticed common need: doing their laundry. The nonprofit organization does bi-monthly projects in the Sulphur Springs community.

The community is considered one of the most troubled in Tampa with more than forty-nine percent of residents living below federal poverty level and less than thirty-five percent of residents have a high school diploma or equivalent. "Sulphur Springs is one of the most needful areas of Tampa and over the past two years we have done more than twenty Laundry Love projects there," said Current President Jason Sowell "We try to have a Laundry Love Project there nearly every month and plan to continue with monthly events."

Earlier this month, Current held its' first Laundry Love project in Jacksonville, Florida.

To continue these projects, Current seeks donations of laundry detergent, quarters (rolls of $10), 1-gallon Ziploc bags, garbage bags, coloring books, crayons, fabric softener, and laundry baskets. Donations can be brought to the event on the morning of Oct. 15 or contact Jason Sowell at 727.537.9082. More information about this event can be found online at www.LaundrybyCurrent.org
