Tampa Nonprofit Travels Back to Lake County: Laundry Project to Benefit Leesburg Residents

Current of Tampa Bay, Inc. Will Host Second Laundry Love Project in Leesburg, FL to Pay for Laundry for Less Fortunate Residents

LUTZ, FL, October 26, 2011 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- The Tampa chapter of Current will spend Saturday, Oct. 29, helping local residents by paying for their laundry to be washed. The event will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Leesburg Laundromat - 1407 N. Citrus Blvd. (Hwy 27) Leesburg, FL 34748.

The Laundry Love Project provides an opportunity for volunteers from throughout the community to assist those in need by helping them afford a simple, yet often unnoticed common need: doing their laundry. "For the past two years Current volunteers have provided those less fortunate with the ability to wash and dry their clothes," said Current President Jason Sowell. "Not only do we help provide a physical need but we assist with an emotional one as well. Our volunteers take the time to talk with the families."

This is Current's second Laundry Love Project in Leesburg and their volunteers are eager to travel back to this community. "We are ready to return to Leesburg, the last project there was a great success and the owner asked us to return. We hope to make this a quarterly project. Last time we were able to assist 30 families and wash more 100 loads of laundry," said Sowell.

The Laundry Love Project once again received support from the Carver Heights Neighborhood Association. The Carver Heights Neighborhood Association helped bring the project to Leesburg in July 2011.

To continue these projects, Current seeks donations of laundry detergent, quarters (rolls of $10), 1-gallon Ziploc bags, garbage bags, coloring books, crayons, fabric softener, and laundry baskets. Donations can be brought to the event on the morning of Oct. 29 or contact Jason Sowell at 727.537.9082. More information about this event can be found online at www.LaundrybyCurrent.org
