Danny Lurie Joins The Stanford Who's Who Community
Danny Lurie has earned the recognition of Stanford Who's Who as a result of his exceptional effort in the community.
MORNINGSIDE, SOUTH AFRICA, November 4, 2011 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Danny Lurie has earned the recognition of Stanford Who's Who as a result of his exceptional effort in the community. As Co-Founder and Director of Hillside Digital Trust, as well as throughout his brilliant professional career, Mr. Lurie has routinely exhibited the passion, vision and dedication necessary to be considered among the best.
Hillside Digital Trust is an organization which aims to dramatically increase social change, service delivery and good governance in Africa's poorest communities through training its youth in video citizen journalism and community activism. The general objective of the organization is to empower young male and female members of impoverished communities in Africa, with no previous skills, to produce their own stories through video, screen it back to the community using portable projectors and share their stories with the international community via the Internet.
Mr. Lurie developed the Hillside Digital Trust due to the fact that he was disgruntled with the slow pace of transformation and justice in South Africa. He also serves on the board of an orphanage in Alexandra Township and has been an active supporter and coordinator of Dramatic Need in South Africa. Danny currently represents Africa's NGO sector on an international working group for the Global Reporting Institute, formulating policy and guidelines on sustainability reporting for the events sector. During his collegiate career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and Theatre from the South African School of Film, Television & Dramatic Art.
