Family Friendly 50th Anniversary Celebration at Frying Pan Farm Park, Saturday, December 3rd, 11AM to 5 PM

Frying Pan Farm Park, Fairfax County's "Park of the Year" celebrates its 50th Anniversary this Saturday, December 4th with live music, farm animals, and dog and horse demonstrations during the day.

ANNANDALE, VA, December 03, 2011 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- The Friends Group of Frying Pan Farm Park announces the special 50th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, December 3rd from 11 am to 5pm as the culmination of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Frying Pan Farm Park, Fairfax County's "Park of the Year" for 2011. This is a special year for the park as we are celebrating our 50th year, and this is grand finale of our 50th Anniversary Celebration events.

This family friendly event will include holiday festivities, strolling carolers, warming fires, s'mores, dog & horse demonstrations, the opportunity to milk a cow or goat, and children's holiday shopping at the Country Store (where children from ages 4 to 12 can buy presents for their parents, volunteers will help them keep to their budget and wrap the gifts for free). There will also be dog & horse demonstrations, the opportunity to milk a cow or goat, and more.

Children can have their pictures taken with Santa, in a real sleigh in the Kidwell Barn on the farm.

The farm programs include historic blacksmith demonstrations, as well as wagon rides through the farm and fields of the park and the new (to the park) antique carousel. As a working farm, of course it has animals: cows, pigs, goats, horses, sheep, rabbits and even a peacock! You can try your hand at the daily 4pm cow milking.

There will also be a raffle for five frozen turkeys during the event at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. To enter the raffle visit the Friends group table in the farmyard. Entry is free and some activities have a small fee. Pack up the family and skip the crowded malls. Step back in time at this rustic park that offers a holiday glimpse of yester year.
