SearStone Partnering with The Carying Place to Collect Donations for Families in Need
Public Invited to Participate in Annual "Angel Tree" Program
CARY, NC, December 04, 2011 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- SearStone, a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community planned for Cary, and The Carying Place (TCP), a local nonprofit that teaches homeless families to become self-sufficient, will again partner for the holidays to collect household items for local families in need. For the third consecutive year, SearStone is sponsoring an Angel Tree benefitting TCP.
Through Dec. 31, SearStone will display an Angel Tree at its Model Home and Sales Center, located at 106 Walker Stone Drive. Neighbors, friends and future residents are encouraged to stop by and pick up an ornament listing needed household items such as cleaning supplies, kitchen utensils, linens and baby accessories. After purchasing the items, participants can return them to SearStone to be delivered to TCP.
"We are very grateful to SearStone and the SearStone community for donating household items to furnish an apartment for a family in need," said Pat Lykins, executive director of The Carying Place. "These necessities help our families as they move from homelessness to independent living."
The Carying Place assists homeless, working families with children to regain financial stability and independent living. Primarily, those families have a desire to live in Wake County. The organization provides Transitional Housing Programs (THP) that give families an opportunity to stabilize their financial situation, leading to permanent self-sustaining housing. Each family accepted into the program is paired with professional staff and a volunteer team, which works with the family to develop a personalized plan for self-sufficiency.
"SearStone is delighted to continue this holiday tradition of helping those in our community who are struggling to provide for their families," said Morgan Lamphere, director of sales and marketing. "Years ago we donated kitchen appliances from our model home to the Carying Place, and have developed a good relationship with this wonderful organization."
