Sandra L. Ramsey Named VIP of the Year for Excellence in Trauma Therapy
Ms. Ramsey spearheads Crisis Recovery International, a company dedicated to helping trauma victims globally
LINCOLN, NE, July 12, 2011 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- Sandra Ramsey, Founder and President of Crisis Recovery International, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who as a VIP of the Year for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in trauma therapy.
After volunteering for disaster mental health programs for the American Red Cross, Ms. Ramsey began to feel a great affinity for helping survivors of traumatic events. Six years ago, she established Crisis Recovery International, which provides resources for distraught families trying to cope with harrowing experiences, including disaster, war, and civil strife. Internationally, Ms. Ramsey and her team of professionals have helped thousands of people regain their dignity and re-establish their hope for the future. Hardworking and determined, Ms. Ramsey is deeply gratified by the opportunities she has had to make a difference in so many people's lives.
As the founder and president of the nonprofit organization, Ms. Ramsey specializes in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. Familiar with the importance of community, she creates partnerships with other local nonprofit organizations with similar goals. Together, they perform disaster work and provide culturally appropriate products and services following traumatic events — which not only helps the families in dire need, but also drives money back where it belongs: in the community.
Ms. Ramsey is a fellow of the American Psychotherapy Association and the American College of Forensic examiners. She holds a master's degree in counseling psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, which she earned in 1989, along with licenses in professional counseling and marriage and family therapy. Further, Ms. Ramsey has an emergency management certification from the state of Nebraska. Aspiring to do as much as she can for people going through traumatic situations, she intends to expand her organization in the coming years by obtaining additional funding and compassionate volunteers.
