Maggie M. Cheatom Honored as a VIP of the Year for Excellence in Foster Care

Maggie Cheatom, mother of four biological children and seven adopted children, has served as a foster parent for more than 18 years

    DETROIT, MI, January 12, 2012 /Nonprofit PR News/ -- Maggie M. Cheatom, Director of Evergreen Children's Services, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in foster care.

For the past 18 years, Ms. Cheatom has cared for adolescent girls in her home while working full-time in the retail industry. She serves as a director of Evergreen Children's Services, a nonprofit foster care and adoption agency located in Detroit, Mich. Ms. Cheatom ensures that the girls at the center attend school, monitors academic progress, and provides necessary health care. She collaborates with the girls' social workers and assists the girls in obtaining part time work during the summer. Ms. Cheatom is also a caregiver at New Beginnings Fresh Starts and Second Chances. She recently retired from the retail industry after 41 years, allowing her more time to focus on the girls she works with.

In recognition of her work, Ms. Cheatom was recently named as a VIP of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who. This distinction honors exemplary individuals who have shown commitment to achieving personal and professional success. Ms. Cheatom has also received special recognition from Evergreen Children's Services. She attributes her success to putting Jesus Christ first in her life; she is a member of the Greater Burnette Baptist Church. In addition to foster parenting, Ms. Cheatom has four biological children and seven adopted children.
